Lawn Rental: Shinn Park is owned by the city of Fremont. You may rent the lawn area from the City on weekends during spring and summer. From that page, scan down to "Rental Information for Shinn Historic Park and Arboretum." The city provides tables and chairs. You provide the birthday party, graduation celebration, wedding, or whatever needs celebrating.
House Tour during lawn rental: You may also arrange for a docent-led tour of the house during your rental. Contact mphf.secretary@gmail.com to arrange for a docent-led tour of the Shinn House during your rental. Our docents will be dressed in Victorian attire and will give the guests a guided tour of the house. You may take all the photos you want. The historic house adds a special touch to your event. The tax-deductible donation of $200 (check or Paypal) goes to the non-profit that manages the house, Mission Peak Heritage Foundation, for programs, research, and upkeep.
Garden Tour during lawn rental: A garden tour may also be arranged for a tax-deductible donation of $200. Please contact mphf.secretary@gmail.com to find out more.
Docent-guided house tours are given during regular day/times and and upon request. Generally the house is open for tours on the first Monday and third Sunday from 1-4:00. Last tour starts at 3:00ish. See Facebook for changes for holidays and events. See the Support page for donations for tours.
You may contact us for group tours for days that are not regular tour days. We welcome groups and can tailor our tour to your interests.

The online tour includes the gardens and buildings.
Note that the front lawn is often rented during the summer season. You may still visit the Japanese Garden and barnyard areas, even if there is a rental.
If you are coming from far away and want to see all of the park, you may call the city to see if the lawn area is rented so you are not disappointed.
